Article from the Lewiston, Utah newspaper upon the occasion of Oscar and Margaret's Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary:
"O. M. Pope was born in Nauvoo, August 19, 1846. Mrs. Pope was born in Sacramento, 1849. They were married in the Endowment house in 1865. They have eleven children,seven who are still living. They are: Oscar M. Pope, Jr., of Blackey, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Mary A. Rawlins of Cornish, Utah; Mrs. Maggie Williams of Cove, Utah; Mrs Mable Bergeson of Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Leona Smith of Rexburg, Idaho; George Pope of Lewiston, Utah, and Mrs. Luella Glover of Lewiston, Utah. All attended except Mrs. Mable Bergeson whose children were very ill.
They have 54 grand children and 9 great-grand children.
A grand feast was served to 104 guests. A program then followed by prayer offered by A. D. Smith of Lewiston, Utah; selection by the orchestra; welcome by George E. Pope; duet by Stella Biggs and Hattie Blair, sketch of history by Brother Oscar M. Pope, Sr.; solo by Belba Bergeson; talk on Eternal Marriage by O. M. Pope, Jr.; piano solo by Mable Rawlins; life's pictures by Dr. P. F. Smith of Rexburg, Idaho; quartette by Vila and George Pope, Rillo and George; piano solo, Thelma Smith; recitation, Orland Pope; duet by Luela Rawlins; song, Della and Orland Popel
In the evening a very large dance was enjoyed. Punch was served, and a general good time predominated. The out-of-town visitors were Dr. and Mrs. P. F. Smith of Rexburg, Idaho; O. M. Pope, Jr. of Alberta, Canada; Joseph Brower of St. Anthony; George Brower of Burley, Idaho; Wm. Bair and wife of Richmond; Miss Velva Bergeson of Boise, Idaho and Dr. and Mrs. States of Preston, Idaho.
Brother and Sister Pope wish to thank their friends who so generously remembered them with the splendid Golden gifts."
